Hit the Q with my Cousin and his recently retired father in law. We were first in line and on the water shortly after 6 am.
We started out with 2 rods out on the planer boards and 2 on the down riggers. Depths varied from 15ft to 50 ft. We started with slow trolling shiners. It wasnt long before we had a nice salmon on, complete with the aerial acrobatics behind the boat. It looked like a nice fish, but managed to pop off on one for the jumps. Shortly after that we had another salmon on that also managed to pop off. They sure are good at escaping.
As the sun and the temp came up, we switched gears and started targeting lakers. I pulled in the planers and used the down riggers with spoons. It wasnt long before one of the rods popped, which was set at about 70ft. What came up was a bit of a shock. It was a nice 5lb salmon. As the day went on the fun with the lakers ensued. We ended the day with 10 lakers hooked and 7 landed, and 3 salmon hooked and 1 landed. They both had a great time as i let them take turns on the rod. Always fun getting out with family and getting them on the fish. We were off the water around 12:30 and home in time to watch the Pats game =)
Got a few pics but as they arent of me I wont be posting them.
