A Skunking and a Few Brookies
« on: Sep 16, 2017, 04:25 PM »
I fished two streams for 2.5 hours this afternoon.

Sunny, blue skies, temp around 80, Water levels nearly ideal.

I fished the North Hoosic from Cross Road bridge in Clarksburg to below the Eclipse Mill dam in North Adams without a single hit. Very puzzling.

I also fished Hudson Brook (which runs through Natural Marble Bridge State Park) in North Adams. There my luck was a bit better - - I landed four brookies (ranging from 4" to 8") and lost a fifth (about 9").

Given my disappointing results on the North Hoosic the past few weeks, I fear I will have to shift my attentions to other streams (primarily the South and Main branches of the Hoosic) over the next few months and simply hope the trout in the North Hoosic "hold over" better following next spring's stocking.

(Out here in the Western District, the DFW only stocks ponds in the fall - - none of the streams get a fall stocking).

Still a nice time of year to chase them!
