I'm going to troll long pond tomorrow. Was really hoping to target holdover browns, but don't have much luck in the fall. Anyone have luck trolling? I always do well with the rainbows but the fight isn't the same.
I can see them hitting along shore at dusk/night. terrestrials on a flyrod maybe?
should be a nice fall day on the water either way!

I always catch the most browns trolling shiners. But you’ll have to rig them with a hook through the tail - as trout almost always hit a trolled shiner from behind. I think that would make a difference, as it has in my experience -

Db smelt spoons at Colebrook res or streamers on leadcore. My pb there is 6lbs.

I got a good brown a couple weeks ago trolling a small perch-colored Rapala on leadcore (2-3 colors or so). For browns, I usually do better with stickbaits than with spoons. (This wasn't at Long Pond, however, but a similar two-tier fishery.)

How did you make out?

I was hitting them at a cape pond 25ft down on a downrigger
