Felt vs. Cleated
« on: May 15, 2020, 09:39 AM »
So looking to get a new pair of waders, and wondering what some opinions are on felt vs cleated boots? I used to rock stocking foot with cheap water shoes, but thinking of going with an integrated boot this round. Thoughts?

Nothing better than studded felt.  Consider getting some Korkers so you can change the soles depending on what you're doing.  Should be some killer deals now or very soon anyway.
It is understood that fishing licenses, gas, bait, etc., all cost money, but try not to let a limit of trout be your only gauge for success. – Ben Nugent, (NH F&G) Regional Fisheries Biologist

Only in some states
I have Korkers with all the soles and an old pair with felted with studs For warm weather wading with dry on the fly clothing
Wading foot wear have come a long ways in 44+ years of wading

Felt sole shoes have been outlawed in Maryland, Alaska, Missouri, Nebraska, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park for transferring invasive species and parasites.

I would go with whatever Jim C uses.  I can't imagine anyone using waders harder than him

Korkers are awesome, though my ~3 year old pair are on their way out (they get heavy use).
