adkRoy's Adirondack adventures
« on: May 17, 2012, 07:02 PM »
I hiked into Glasgow pond (1.4 miles one way) in the Southern Adirondacks this afternoon after work.  I tried fishing the creek and the pond. Although I saw fish, I did not catch any.  :P

The trail in is an old tote road up to the pond. It was really washed out.

Its neat, on the way near the pond, is some old foundations of houses from over 120 years ago.

Someone has recently been metal detecting and digging around the foundations

This is why I hate people, they leave crap like this way back in

Many views of Glasgow pond. I did see fish but they just were not biting.

I found where some animal, either skunk or raccoon, found some turtle eggs, dug them up and ate them.

Here is the old foundation of the old mill that use to make broomsticks if I remember my history right.

Some old metal equipment pieces from the mill

I found a Jack-in-the-pulpit growing amid the foundations

These little guys were all over the place:

looks like you have a sweet afternoon in the ADK's   8)
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

Nice pics! Pond hikes are one of my favorite ways of fishing.

Great pics!  I love seeing pictures of and hearing about the history of the Adirondacks.

Great pictures, keep them coming.  Trying to convince the wife we need to move up there, but finding jobs in the area isn't an easy thing to do.

It's Jessup river time!  Took a little canoe trip up the river for some trout. The river was down about 2-3 feet. No trout were caught but we did have a fawn jump in the river, chase our canoe, jump back out of the river, run around us, jump back into the river and swim down stream in front of the canoe for about a half mile. Lots of deer and bear tracks in the mud and sand along the river banks.

Self portrait!

Beautiful scenery:

The river was really low:

I tried to get a picture of the deer swimming in front of us but he was about 100 yards down stream from us.

Congratulations!  That's going to be a lucky little person, growing up in the Adirondack's!  Invest in a backpack carrier.  I took our kids everywhere in one.
