March 15 was the last day of the fishing season for most of the non-trout waters in SE Alberta, but being the addict that I am I know of a few small reservoirs that are open season year round. Oldschenk and myself headed out to one of them spots Sunday morning for the first open water fishing of the season. Cold, windy, rain/snow, almost a perfect day. I had a couple of good fish on but lost them at shore and Oldschenk had one get off about 10' from shore. I had another bite late in the morning which threw the hook almost immediately, only to take it and spit it out again right away. A few more casts and a total of eight hits with no luck, but on the ninth bite his luck run out. Nice little 6.5#er to start off the open water season.
