I've been following this thread for the last several years. It always gets me charged up for the growing season. I'm in the lakes region of NH and I'm always 3 - 4 weeks behind you guys. I planted a small asparagus bed last year and thought it didn't winter. The first one poked through late last week. They're coming pretty steady now. Planted some by seed that made the winter. They're tiny but alive. I'll need a few weeks of dry weather before I can till here.

I'll get some tomorrow Dom. Too busy playing with the new tractor today👍

Welcome Wakefieldfisher. Always happy to hear from another green thumb.

Asparagus has been an exercise in patience for me. Happy to say it's paid off. I noticed a bunch of self seeded sprouts coming up in the bed today. Here's hoping they add to the harvest.

Well, I'm killing time till I get on the watwr this morning. So.....here's some pics.

My new tractor. ( love it!)

Asparagus bed

My one and only Zucchini

Potato bags

Potato bed

The trough planter. I'm having spinach with my streak tonight👍

The front planting

Mama's flower garden

The flagpole garden.

I might start moving some tomatoes and pickles to the garden this week. Weather looks pretty reasonable. The pepper seedlings  are really slow getting started. Overall, starting my plants in the trough with heat and cover has been a real success. The seedlings are sturdy, hardened off already and have nice leaf growth.  The bonus crop of radishes and spinach are worth the effort of building it.

I highly recommend the trough planter!

Very nice RG , but I think the neighbors might complain if you streak , so just put a steak on the Weber instead 😉

Not your average garden store stuff.

Hoping to get at my beds this evening. Haven't spent much time with them, as i have been busy giving my kitchen a face lift.

What i did do yesterday was build a compost pit out of heat treated pallets that have been in my way since fall 2017. While we have had a compost "pile" in the past, this will make it more refined.

Has anyone built a similar compost bin? Is there any benefit to wrapping it with chicken wire?

Yes I have made them and they work well..Wrapping in chicken wire works also.....
I'm hoping to make a run to the waste management recycling center this week and get a couple loads of there's.  I'm raising as many of my beds as I can another 10"
