Title: The oldest fly in my box retired today....
Post by: MickeyFinn on Sep 21, 2013, 10:37 AM
I got out a few hours this morning after some prespawn browns on a local stream.... I threw some nymphs, some buggers etc etc... Then I pulled out a particular streamer I tie that I call Acid Rain...I stared at it for a minute and was reminded of how long this fly has been in my box, and if my memory serves me correctly its the better part of 12 years... In fact I actually lost it on particular section of the stream only to find it a week later....I've added some thread to the head and recemented it a few times over the years...I didn't catch anything on it today but I did almost lost it in a tree... So I decided its getting retired........ Here it is.....(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi238.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff11%2Fdeadsmelthead%2FIMG_20130921_111021_350_zpsa585b72c.jpg&hash=72326ec4deb95cc987ff245b57fc8041)
I've probably caught well over 100 fish on it....

A well-deserved retirement! Looks like a great fall brookie pattern, also.

That is a good thing ,put it on a place of honor and the memories will always be with you. I wish i could keep and use a fly that long, mine last about 10 fish and there done.
