Is there any definate word whether it was released? I find it hard to belive that they came up with a 1000 pound figure by guessing.

forwarded to my hotmail addy by our good friend Blue Igloo from IS....caught this spring near the mouth of the Rainy River that feeds into Lake of the Woods....for those that havent seen it....sorry for the wide picture, but resizing doesnt do it justice....they're out there...Grump                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        weighed out at over 1,000lbs and measured out at 11'1". It was 56"

That's a sturgeon is a bit too big and has the wrong coloration to be a lake sturgeon, I am guessing at a white sturgeon from BC's Fraser River. What a monster fish, a definite relic from the past.

It came out of the Fraser River in BC and was released. We do have the biggest fish. Ha! An average sturgeon for the lower Fraser is about 6 feet long and 15-25 years old. That fish is exceptionally huge and is likely around 70-80 years old.
