And the ice is junk in january, and the weather seems nice enough(?) to go stream fishing, make lemonade?
I decided to do just this, and see if I could get a tug in some flowing waters.
On my first attempt to fish a river in January, I thought I did pretty good. Neither my friend nor I froze to death, my waders only have a minor leak, and I actually caught a fish:
I also snapped off something that seemed bigger, but upon review of my leader/bobber set up it could have been frayed from poor application of the bobbers. It sure did feel nice to feel water running past my feet and legs again.
I should also add Jim C’s posts over in the main board inspired me to see if I can get a trout every month of the year open water. I got 8 months last year, and so far this year it’s a good start (although I still hope we get some ice soon).
