Garmin GPS12 not working!

I've got an older Garmin GPS12 that I've had for a good long time. It's got all kinds of structure and contours marked from over the years. I turned it on yesterday, and all it says is "Upload Not Available". I took the batteries out and left it overnight, and still it says the same thing. Anybody know how I can fix it?

What did Garmin say? I'm sure that you called the manufacturer before you asked on an open forum.

There's no more warrantee, they'd just transfer me around until I ran out of time. I figured fishermen were worth more than the manufacturer of a 12 year old piece of electronics in this situation.
