Article hinted that the Yanks would step up to prevent any tax bill as they've done in the past.

I'm sure they will because SOMEONE will need to pay the taxes.... Seems like a fair trade to me... no money exchanged hands...

Didn't even cross my mind about the taxes but wasn't shocked either when I read it this afternoon.

The guy gives the ball back (that would be worth LARGE amount) to be a nice guy and have it put in the hall of fame, and gets other goodies for being a good sport and now the IRS and everyone else knows his name...Do you think he would of been better off keeping the ball and l keep to himself for a while at least. Maybe it doesn't always pay to be a nice guy..but it seems the nice guy pays ..

I think the IRS feels cheated out of all the money they would have gotten if he had kept the ball and sold it. So now they are going to punish him.

  there's winners and there's losers
But they ain't no big deal
Cause the simple man baby pays the thrills
The bills, the pills that kill

Oh, but ain't that America for you and me
Ain't that America somethin' to see baby
Ain't that America home of the free, Little pink houses for you and me
