Certified Creek Chub Live Bait In Western NY?
« on: May 03, 2008, 10:49 AM »
Does anyone know if they're available anywhere? Nothing deadlier than 6" to 9" creek chub (not a sucker chub) on both eyes an northern pike. Granted, it was a few years ago, but we caught 5# to 7# walleyes down at Honeoye S/W corner out to the center in 13 to 16 fow, a half hour before dark until midnight. Also, north end of Conesus off Pebble Beach 10 to 18 fow 6 to 10 pounders, all after dark (that's really history). The best of all was the south end of Canandaigua Lake, 8 to 13 lb. eyes at night straight out from the West River at the point of bar where it dropped from 12 to 25 plus fow.

Ive been looking here in southeastern N.Y, for certified chubs, for muskie. Can catch hundreds of them in the creeks around here but with the new law don't think its worth getting caught.

I used to use creek chubs in Wisconsin all the time for Northern.  They were the best over suckers or shiners hands down.  Wish I could use/get them here in Otisco lake for the tigers and walleyes.
