Title: One Fish on a Frosty Day
Post by: bogtrotter on Nov 12, 2017, 10:59 AM
I fished the South Hoosic for forty five minutes this morning. Same stretch as last weekend.

It was sunny, blue skies, stream levels normal, and the thermometer read a balmy 39 degrees.

However, but it felt a lot colder, and Mother Nature must not have gotten the memo either, because I saw a fair number of stalactite-style icicles arrayed like church organ pipes along the banks.

Unlike last weekend, I only had a single strike and catch - - a 12 inch rainbow that I landed below the small waterfall just downstream from Elm Rock.

At that point, my tootsies were getting cold, so I reeled in my line and headed back to my car.

Nice work.  At least you got the skunk off.  I was up in your neck of the woods.  I was unsuccessful targeting pike but managed to land a 7 inch pond shiner on a lipless.  Def need to get a hold of some of them for ice season.

I worked on the boat Saturday adding an aux tank to try to isolate what I thought was air in the lines.  Then got her running what I thought was well.

Got up to Lake George and had a nice 22 degree start but a nice flat lake.  It didnt take long before we realized my fuel pump is shot.  Thankfully bigred manually kept the fuel flowing enough for us to run 12 miles....and we caught!

If it was easy, it wouldn't be memorable.
