Yo Guys & Gals,
Uncle, no mas, I give, stop, quit, enough is enough with all this snow and cold. I'm ready for spring to be sprung. I am left in limbo here in the great white north. How about you? We got another 2 inches last night. I have been private messaging all my snow bird friends to stay down there a couple more weeks. I can't stay warm in the Stealth and I can't get the I/O in the water yet because I will freeze the block and the out drive..
Though I have managed a couple of trips out with the long poles so far, most of my fishing has been from the river banks or creek beds. I got to say, the fingers, knees elbows , hips and brain don't work well in these conditions. I find myself sitting here scanning the 10 day weather forecast looking for at least a 50 degree day with light wind to get out on the water. They say you can't keep a good man down, but you sure as heck can curtail his activity with cold weather. It's even too cold to work on the Sea Ray conversion. I'm starting to feel like an old man. Watching way too much TV and cursing the TV commentators. It is time to turn a new leaf. Come on now. Say it with me. NO MO SNOW... NO MO SNOW..... NO Mo SNOW

That April snow here in CT cost me. Wife spun the jeep and stuffed the rear end into a tree. Thankfully she is fine. Anyone want a 5.9l v8 with brand new rebuilt transmission? Has too many goodies to part with.

im with ya on this weather, last week on wednesday we tried to finish a roof in that wind, we got all the shingles nailed on but couldnt do the ridge vent it was just too windy. when we came in the following day there was 2"s of snow on the roof and 8 of the shingles we nailed on the day before blew off. then we started a siding job and had to quit at noon on friday cuz it started getting windy and snowing slush on us. this winter dont know when to stop! im sitting here now debating on going to try for some trout in one of the fast flowing flooded streams... :P

I probably shouldn't complain, but I will anyway. It brings to mind when i was a mere lad of 12 or 13, can't exactly remember which, my neighbor Jimmy Secor and I skipped school on May 15th to go fishing behind the house in the back water where the Fulton race track is now.
We chose unwisely. About one hour into our misadventure it started to snow. Imagine that May 15th. I never forgot that. I really don't mind confessing this as I believe it is beyond the statute of limitations eh? Besides that, my grand kids don't read this folly anyway. :angel: :angel: :angel:

I have found there is always 4 or 5 bad weather days after my return to the frozen tundra of Upstate NY . So, to free you guys and get the weather seasonal, I will head North in a week. That means better weather should return around the 21 st or 22 nd...

On a separate note , I wish I could post pictures as one of my old buddies, Joefish sent me a photograph which shows how to compensate for the cold weather. Too funny. I hope he posts it on this thread.

I have to agree with you Jim. I know it's not unusual to get a few cold days with snow showers this time of year. But it has been just bizarre, with a month of consistent cold and snowy days with LOTS of wind. We wanted to take the little row boat out and fish FH where you and I ice fished but decided my old bones would not handle 34 degree temps very well in that little tin can. I hope the perch up at Kring will wait for us before they "do their thing". Hope to catch up with you soon on the water, sounds like things will start to improve next week. jperch

I must be the crazy one! I still like seeing snow.
Before you know it we will be swarmed by mosquitos and sweating our tails off.

I said the hell with it and donned my Walls coveralls. Went out and cleaned up all the branches downed from the wind storm. Had a nice bonfire even though it snowed hard on and off. It pretty much melted off by the end of the day.
Might see 50 by the end of the week.

I said screw it and went out fishing from 4-6, lost a few and kept these

cant wait for it to warm up but the creeks were not as high as they were a couple days ago and were easily fishable. I had two real nice trout come unpinned after a brief fight and watched a few follow my spinner to shore, this week looks decent hopefully its bullhead time soon!!

I darn well hope we are not going to give the record book a new target date. eh? Hopefully, a month from now we will be fishing in our T-shirts. It snowed all day long yesterday with no accumulation. Woke up to all white this morning and now it's all but completely gone.
I guess it's ok....got me back to the fly tying bench anyway.

Rest assured spring is coming, not sure when, but it is coming. I have it on good authority, Taxid has informed us it is already in Indiana and coming our way. I looked out the front door and the 2 inches of fluffy stuff we got yesterday evening has already gone for the most part. I also checked the sky to see if Dom's moon appeared. Gratefully, it had not.
The 10 day Underground forecast warms my heart with anticipation. Saturday and Sunday should let me get out with the small boat and if Monday ends up being as nice as predicted , I can finally get the Larson I/O out of the barn and in the water. This dark, dismal, dreary nightmare of a spring will be but a memory. Finally we can put this mournful topic to bed eh? Happy days are soon to be here again. Now mind you, that forecast is for us normal people, not you cabin fevered recluses like Dom who live up in that deep freezer called the Adirondacks. You may have another month of winter yet ,however I will invite Dom down to the land of milk and honey if he promises to keep his moon in his pants. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

I've found four dead bullfrogs on one of the ponds in recent days. It's been really rough on them. I don't normally find that many. Now there's a great blue heron after them. Don't come back in your next life as a frog!

Just tried for the bullheads in this slop, I went from roofing in a t shirt and shorts all week to putting on my hunting bibs and sitting on the freezing bank only to get skunked HA it still beat roofing in a t shirt all week tho lol!

Heavy frost here -- again this morning in northern Indiana. Cold front came through yesterday and it was in the 40's for a high with brisk winds. Funny how relative that is. If it had been it the 40's on the ice it would have felt mild.

Wamer air is headed your way. Was in the upper 70's here yesterday and supposed to be over 80 F. today. (Northern Indiana).Then 70's for the next couple of days followed by seasonably warm temp in the upper 60's for highs. No deep plunges into the deep chill in the foreseeable future.
