Drove by Stans in Highland and its gone. Now an empty lot. Im 63 and remember that place from when I was a kid goin in with paps. Family owned businesses are doomed. I closed mine after 31 years last august. Internet sells it for less than I could purchase it from my wholesaler who is also now gone. Only Slez in lake station left, 25 min drive but hes worth it and family owned.

Used Stans for years, years ago.
Got 1 in Demotte if you go this way to fish.
Rt 10 south of town at Eeiningburgs (how ever you spell it).
Cheap too.

Rough way to try and make a living. Going to be tough ordering minnows online!

I've thought about combining a bait business (I can raise all the crappies minnows I want here on the property) with my taxidermy but the hours you have to be available is a big downside. Someone has to be here pretty much from 6 A.M. to 8 P.M. especially on weekends. If they all go out of business around me I will be tempted though.

Bait Machine?
-
Thought about it.

I wouldn't stay open until 8 maybe 5 or 6, most are going to be on the water by 6pm if they are going. But it is a 7 day a week business to keep you tied down unless you have some one to stay with the shop when you are not there.

I have a old bait machine needs a little work but I am willing to sell it cheap!

Thanks for the offer but I think I'll support my local bait stores as long as they stay open. The last thing they need is competition. And the pond I could use to produce fathead minnows is tied up for hybrid crappie production this year.

that ok. if you know of anyone who would be interested let me know.
