VACATION IS OVER

Kids started school today. Can mean only one thing. Fall is coming. With this being said the lakes won't be as crowded. On another note; I remember school never started till after labor day when I was a kid. Ah, the good old days.... Feel sorry for the kids. Guess they have to start sooner to make up for all the late starts due to fog or snow. SNOW, NOW WE ARE TALKING........ Can remember when we had almost 3 months of good safe ice. With the temps we are seeing now all we can do is pray. It is looking good.

We have been in school for a week already, some schools are at two weeks now.  The early start is because of testing. The longer you are in school the more the kids get a chance to learn stuff for a test. (Silly idea, just have the state change the rules to help donors to your campaign!  Sorry for the rant.).

I was told last year that Michigan has passed a law forbidding the start of school before Labor Day. Money talks!  Tourism industry was taking a big hit.

My 11 year old is waking up at 5:45am to get ready to be at school by 7:10am where she has signed a waiver to submit to random drug testing in order to be eligible for sports/band/choir. Hoping we can make some ground these next few years and be ready to put her in a better school her last 4 years, if one exists nearby. Rant over

Don't get started on school testing........
That said, we've been back since Aug 01 and the
kids came back the following Monday.  I'd be lying
if I said I didn't like the 2 week fall break.
