Start to the 2005 kitty season
« on: Apr 19, 2005, 12:31 PM »
BigRed and I got out for the first time of the 2005 season for some early catfishin. We fished from 830p-245a and the fishing was slow. But we did manage to get a few 22"ers and 25"ers.
Here is camofish with a 25"er.

And a 22"er.

Hopefully BigRed will hook us up with the three nice ones that he got last night.
 ;D Fish On!

Those are some nice cats camo and red. Are these from the Hudson? And if so the tidal section?

yes the mighty Hudson, but no not tidal, we've been up above the troy dam.

So if your above the dam is it a pretty reservoir like environment? How much is there in the way of current? Where do you find cats in riverine impoundments?

there's still a significant amount of current, and they definetly relate to any current breaks.  I have never fished for them in any kind of still water body.

Hey guys nice cats. I'm not trying to steal your thunder here but thought I would post the pic of the cat I caught last night on here with you. He is not huge so I didn't want to start a whole new post but I did want to put his pic up since he is my first descent fish of the year. I caught him just before the sun went down yesterday on a cut bluegill (that had set in the baitwell all day and was stinking bad). He was only 4 pounds 10 ounces but I was still happy to have finally caught a descent one. They are still a little slow to bite here.
