Feedback on DNR Vegetation Maps
« on: Sep 27, 2017, 01:13 PM »
I am looking for some feedback/thoughts on some maps the DNR are putting together that will hopefully help/benefit anglers. The DNR is using a lake mapping service called CiBiobase. It gives them the ability to create new contour maps as well as mapping the vegetation found in the lake.

The map is displaying (Green) all of the vegetation that was detected in Winona Lake this past August. Areas in Blue are void of vegetation.

Some questions that we would like to hear responses from:

Does this map provide anglers with usable information?

What could/would you like to see added to this map to provide more information?

Is this something you as an angler would use/like to see for different lakes?

Would love to hear ANY thoughts, improvements, or additions you guys can come up with!

Looks great, only tweak I would make is to make sure the contour lines are more visible under the vegetation rasters or whatever you call em

I have fished Winona quite a bit in the last 15 years,  I feel the information is fairly accurate during a "normal" year, but know some areas that just don't quite seem correct based on experience.  For an experienced angler that was going to the lake for the first time, I think it could be used as a good tool for find productive water quicker.  I like it.

Ring of plants around the shallow part of the lake... very informative.
