Haven't taken the boat here in a few years. Launch at Hammond for free and go west towards the Calumet river. I heard that there no longer is a good weed bed there. Can anyone confirm this? Used to like throwing soft shells thru the vegetation.

The weedbed is still there by the chopper pad and up in the pig-pen AL.

As far as launching free, last i remember if u werent hammonf or whiting resident u paid to launch, unless ya got there way early in the morning before they started filling up.
