Set lines for channel cats?
« on: Jul 15, 2005, 11:53 PM »
The name pretty much says it all.    It is legal for me to use them where I am currently located, confirmed by the F&W.    I have been doing some reading and looking around and have a good idea on how I am going to set up for them, I was just wondering if any body else out there has any good hints or tips that a new person to set line-ing might need to know.
   Thanks,

Yep,   I learned pretty well this sumemr what to do and what not to do that is for sure.    I know that if I ever do it again circle hooks will be a necessity adn will just thave to invest into some better gear.     Lsot a few bigger cats,   one migh thave even been close to 20 pounds,   it was a biggun.

But I learned a lto and had fun with them this past summer.     What a few cats, not a lot,  learned more as the time went on adn caught more.     I think I actually did better for the walleye adn sauger then I did for the catfhish.

Got a lot of these eater sizes, and had best luck usign goldeye for bait.    ALthough I did get a 6 pound walleye off of a rotten piece of cow liver.

Even caught one of these little bugger,   C&R of coarse

The goldeye were incredibly easy to catch,   hit best on grasshoppers floated inder a bober or slow realed in on a hook.

It was just a good summer all together,    I miss that Dakota tan though
