Brook Trout, anyone???
« on: Oct 06, 2012, 08:54 PM »
Ok, I am trying to tear myself away from salmon fishing, Oneida walleye Octobercast, and now duck hunting. I want to do one last brook trout fishing hike into the Adk's or maybe Tug Hill. Is anyone fishing or getting any? I know water is low, but should be cold enough.... is that right? When is best time? Come on, throw me some crumbs people... I gotta get one more trip in!

We went today to an adk pond that we did great in a few times earlier this year...never had a bite. But we did get harassed by an otter that's taken up residence in the pond. Beautiful creatures but I hate to see em' in a trout pond  >:(

otters in a trout pond.........not good for the trout at all! ive seen a family of otters kill off a whole private pond in less than a year. one year it had hundreds of bass and perch and now it has none!!!never see a floating or dead fish and we saw 3 otters. i now a pond near indian lake that had awsome trout fishin but then the otters swept in and destroyed it. they moved on and dec restocked the pond but the fishing just isntthe same

I don't know about everyone else, but I had a horrible year with the brookies.
BML,
Have you hit either of the two "good" ponds on that old mountain this year? Anything happening?

Yeah the hot temps were really hard on brookies this year, and the lack of rain really messed up the groundwater springs coming into the bottom of the lakes
