Great perch day on Sodus
« on: Dec 05, 2017, 10:22 AM »
A buddy and I fished Sodus from sunup to sundown on Saturday and did great. The morning bite was very steady until about 11 am with lots of decent perch and a few slobs. 11 am until 4 pm was a bust. The fish all had lockjaw and we worked hard to get the 10 or so we landed, moving all over the bay and trying different baits and depths. A little after 4 pm the bite ramped up to the point of insanity. Fishing 2 lines was almost impossible because you couldn't get one to the bottom without having another fish on the line. All in all one of the best days of fishing I've ever had. Most were caught on perch rigs with jumbo fatheads, but a few were on small jigs tipped with spikes. We ended up with 76 keepers- none under 8" and several in the 12"-14" range.

Do you think fish go home and lie about all the bait they stole?

Early to bed, early to rise
Fish all day and make up lies...

There's a reason they call it fishing, not catching.

That's funny because almost all of ours were in the 15' deep range. We didn't have much luck going deep, but it may have just been the dead bite around midday. Nice work limiting out!
