Back (way back) in my 30's I took a fall off a ladder and smashed my left wrist. A week after I fell, with a full arm plaster cast I was fishing with my brother on his boat. The fingers on my hand were purple, yellow and red from the fractures. I couldn't operate the reel handle or even begin to think about holding a rod in my opposite hand.

So, my brother and I zip died a small piece of aluminum channel across the palm of my cast. I'd jamb the reel handle in the channel and move the rod in circles around it to retrieve a fish. It was weird feeling, but I was fishing. Can't say it was comfortable either.

Anyhow, sorry about your shoulder. I'd wager that You'll be fishing by July.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Fished w a guy on Oneida few times who had one arm and cast and reeled with that one arm. Used his thumb to reel. Killed them when fish wanted a slower retrieve. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Good luck

Jeez thats terrible - my wife had both her shoulders totally replaced (not at the same time) and she only had to be in a cast for 6 weeks before PT started....... good luck with your therapy..... hope it goes well !!
