4th.of July Yak trip.
« on: Jul 04, 2017, 12:38 PM »
Hit a small lake this morning around 3.45am with my buddy Spider.
Started off with a Black Jitter Bug.
And also had a rod set up with a Strike KING Midnite Special Spinner Bait.
Bass were rising .Hooked into a bass on The Jitter Bug but he got off next to the yak.
Had lots of short hits on the Jitter Bug.
No strikes on the Spinner Bait.
The sun broke and lite was on us.

I had my old faithful gold Raps ready. It didn't let me down.I ended up with 5 bass and at least 8 pickerel.
Biggest bass was 3lb or better.
The Pickerel were vicious they were hitting the top water bait and jumping 2' in the air.It was amazing.
Spider hit a few pickerel 1was 23" when and 2 bass.
That's when I left.
He was still fishing.

yep, it was a great morning. the water was a sheet of glass and I started with a popper and started hitting the gators right off. That 23" came on a spinnerbait though and straigtened the thing out for me, lol! Got a bass on the gold rapala right after Chez left and then the neighbor showed up with a jet ski so it was time to leave. The bite turned off anyway but it still ticked me off a little. >:(

I didn't think about taking a picture of the turtle that harassed us for a while. A floating garbage can lid! It showed up right behind Chez as we sat and talked for a few minutes, then disappeared. Next thing we know it's trying to eat Chez's rapala! That dinosaur wouldn't leave us alone even after wacking it with a paddle! The thing had a head like a softball!
