Title: New World Record Lake trout from Colorado?
Post by: taxid on May 09, 2023, 08:34 AM
What in God's name are they eating in this reservoir? I've seen my farm raised trout get toady from getting to much feed, but have never seen a wild trout like this. Even full of eggs I've never seen a trout built like this especially a lake trout. And spring is the wrong time of year for a lake trout to be full of eggs unless she's egg bound which I doubt for a lake trout. Fish was released btw and allegedly swam off strong.

Does Kokanee beef up lake trout like this?

A angler from Colorado has verified that Kokanee were probably the main diet of this lake trout.

I wouldn't have taken it home either, looks too weird to eat!

A lot of fatty tissue in that fish. Possible fatty liver too.
