Title: Total Solar Eclipse 4/8/24
Post by: rgfixit on Mar 07, 2024, 12:24 PM
Just ordered 10 pair of eclipse glasses for family and friends. Can’t wait. Looks to be a decent viewing day and I’m in the catbird seat of locations.

Once in a lifetime. Have seen 2 partial eclipses, never a total. If you’re in NYS you’ve got a great opportunity. I’ll have the camera set up for sure.

Also ordered a filter for my camera. My son ordered a filter for the Celestron Telescope I gave him. I’m getting anxious.

I have never seen one. The school my daughters attend is giving then an excused absence if they want to see it. I have to drive about an hour and half to get to a better spot. Fortunately there is a lake I like to fish in the direct path.

Once in a lifetime chance to see something real and natural. No digital enhancements. Just life at its purest.

I’ll send you some solar glasses if you want. You really should take it in.

Some people are getting crazy like when it turned to the year 2000. I think it’s going to be kool. My future brother in law is crazy into photography and can’t wait. I’ve been working on hardwood picture frames. Hopefully we can combine

Back when there was all the hype about Y2K I didn’t pay any mind to it at all. This is real and something new for this almost 74 year old.

Even if it’s cloudy that’s going to make it darker..

Remember one of these in Mass as kid. It got darker and the squirrels started moving around in trees. I guess they figured it was dusk or something?

The silence when the eclipse hit was a very strange for sure. It was really cool for the little time it lasted.

Party pooper!

They say there may be 40,000 people visiting Pittsburg NH for the eclipse. Absolute nightmare. I was going to be at camp that weekend but I think we'll put it up for airbnb for $1000 a night and 4 night minimum and pay the taxes for the year. People are going CRAZY for this event, it's interesting but man.. the hype is insane.

Interesting?? It’s a once in a lifetime! How can a fisherman not appreciate an incredible cosmic event? We live  our lives by natural events. Change of seasons, moon phases, weather patterns…….how can we not appreciate this ?

All in all it’s just cool and me and mine will be watching …closely.

City says 500k people with be coming to Rochester for the eclipse. The city population is only 209k. That’s gonna be a mess.

Sure glad I don’t commute into the city any more. We’ll be quite comfortable with a ring side seat in our back yard  in Macedon. Planning a nice campfire, cocktails and burgers on the Weber.

Should be a fun day.

98.5 percent coverage at my location in Indiana. Good enough for me. I've invited a couple of friends down from Northern Michigan from my college days. We'll just sit out on the deck and watch. 20 percent change of showers.

Well Ben, news says every hotel and motel room in the county is booked.that says something. Weather now calls for cloud cover from 2-6. It’ll be fun anyway.
