The angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the heat of the beat.

it's  true   fm   the  average   mans    hand  spread   from  tip  of  pinky  to  thump  is  about  9  inches  !!!!  that  crappie  isn't   but  12  inches  in that  picture!

Just measured mine at 8.5" Trap. Good tool for deciding if a crappie is 9" or not.

That one was 15 3/4" and caught right in front of a marina on the river in Brewerton.   Not the 17 inch whites that we get but I'm not a "Mona Lisa" poser like HT  :-\  and don't take pictures of every fish I catch  ::) ::) ::)

I'm hoping I can be back pain free very soon so I can get out there !    Matter of fact, I'd like to take HT to one of the good spots on the river for the big whites and let him fish the area for a couple hours from a boat while I sit under a shade tree on shore with no rod and drink coffee.
At the end of the 2 hours, we'll both have the same amount of big crappies !     ZERO !   ;) ;) ;D ;D   And HT can use fatheads all day ! ::) ::) ;D ;D

Hey Zippy !    That's my hand holding the fish not you little gripper  ;D ;D
5 1/2 inches across the top of my knuckles !   You do the math.......because I know you know your gozintas.............1 gozinta 2........2 gozinta 4........4 gozinta 8    !!   Just like they taught you in high school  ;D ;D ;D
Plastics are Fantastic !
