You see some of the mangled ones on the right....the more they beat them up, the better they seem to work. I'm working on a few trout patterns for Jr. We'll see if he'll share with the "Old Man" ;D

The last batch are already his!!! Thanks for taking the time to keep him on to something that he really loves!!!! We both share.... LIFE IS GOOD!!!! Now, we need to talk perch flies..... ::) That pattern doesn't really look all that complicated, might have to go to the desk and do some tying now!!! ;)

Tightlines!

Well, perch aren't as smart as trout ::)

EZ
#6 Aberdeen
Mylar braid, core removed
I like the gold or silver bead head
red duck feather fibers for back

There's a bunch of possibilities.

I use a #6 wide gap without the bead for sunnies.

In a lot of ways, he's a lot like me, so I figure he'll turn up when he's ready.

Not sure yet what Mylar braid is? And "core removed". Help me out with that, if ya woulf RG. Thanks for the great info. Great looking "perch fly's" by the way! ;)

Also, thanks for the compliments, 1fish, and KP. That is the stuff to keep my motivation factor alive ! ;D

Mylar braid;
Available in lifetime sized quantities  for next to nothing from any craft store, or in outrageously overpriced little packages from fly tying suppliers.
In bundles

It's woven around a cotton cord core

Core removed

I'll do a tie for you and post some pics when I get a chance.

I may have to get the digital video thing figured out :-\
