well finally made the plunge and got some flycasting stuff.  went a little cheap to get me started(never layed my hands on a fly rod b4 )    picked up some combos from ll bean.  6'6" 3wt 2pc.presumably for gills and stuff and stocked trout)  9' 6wt 4pc and a 9' 6/7wt 2pc trolling rod for my kayak(also never used a kayak b4)     have a lot of questions.....i am sure i will get into tying...but whats the best way to get started??     buy some of the "eastern trout" variety packs...i know it can get really complicated with matching the hatch and all that        also leader lenghts, float vs sink tips, diff casting techniques....i am sure there is a million more!

posted this in ny general.....thought it should be here also.     not sure what the cutoff is for the old farts.......I am 40 ;D ::) ;)

WELCOME to the Old Fart community ;) watch out for the "real" old farts on here :whistling:....they are still sharp as tacks!!! I won't include myself into the old fart class just yet...I'm only 44!!! ;) ;D--KP 8)

Good evening RG!! ;D

Alot of grey area on the classafications... but if you are 40 and have caught a fish on a flyrod, you qualify...  ;D

Puppy! ;D

I went to the back yard stream last Saturday. Knocked some dust off the 3wt. No fish to show for the effort, but I had no expectations. Besides I filled the fridge with perch on Saturday :w00t:

Nice job Josh.

I remember 45. Sometimes, at least :-\

Turned 62 last Friday. Ran an hour and did weights for 1/2hr this morning. So far so good ;D
