Good for you Trapper. Well deserved.

I went looking for crappie with the new 5wt today. I ended up with 1 crappie, 2 perch over 10", 1 walleye 16" and several smallmouth one in the 2.5lb range.

They all came on the Crappie Candy fly (stock photo...mine are very similar)

I was using one of my 60" furled fluorocarbon leaders on a DT5F and a 6' 5x tippet. The water I was fishing was 12' max.

Try as I may, I'm still a warm water fly fisher. Smallmouth, gills, crappie, carp, largemouth, pike......I love to fish them on the fly. A 2lb smallie on a 3wt in a stream is more satisfaction than I can stand. It's how I learned and since life is a circle..... .....It's where I am.

Anyway I really love fly fishing.
