Theres nothing like a fish on the rise on the fly... it should be a staple for anyone who takes on "fly fishing" as a sport... its probably just about time for bass on the surface ;)

Been following this post for a while...cus Im a old f--t with flyrods...  started flyfishnig almost 50 yrs ago.  Thought Id post what Granny got me for Father's day.  There is a pic of it with the little rainbow I entered in the contest.  Its a TFO 1/2 wt fly rod, loaded with 1wt line, at 5ft. actually loads pretty good, ok the beaded bugger I caught the rainbow with was a little big.  Should be a lot of fun on the small brookie creeks near my cabin and chasing gills.  Here is another pic of the setup with the trout.

Has anyone ever ordered flies from Stream Flies website? 50 cents a fly seems pretty cheap to me ( i paid $3.50 for 2 flies at gander). How is the quality?

I guess I can't answer that. I've never bought a fly.

You know, thinking back (30 years or more) I bought one of those round plastic boxes with 8 or so poppers in it. Then I bought one of these

The Thompson "A"
Everything from there on was mine...good, bad or ugly.

Some of the guys on SNAGGER'S thread, had bought some online for steelhead and trout. They ordered quite a few and for the most part....they stayed tight and fished well. like RG and trapper....I have never bought a fly...trout fly!! Seems as though I know two old fart's who like to share!! :whistling: I have been guilty of buying steelhead flies though!!! ;D Titelines!-KP 8)

Hey Trapper,
I gave the new TFO 5wt and Red Truck reel a super workout this morning. Nailed a good sized carp, maybe 8lbs, in the creek on one of my beady eyed bluegill killers. 25 minutes and a couple bruised knuckles later, I got my fly back :thumbup_smilie:

Not used to palming a click and pawl on hard running fish.  It took me well into the backing twice.

Man that setup is sweet.

I make my own furled leaders for a butt section and used 6X as a tippit. The furled was a medium weight, 6/0 Uni with a hi-vis tip.
