Still at it with some vintage rodsI build back in the 60's.  A  9'  9wt, a 71/2'  6-7 wt and a 6 1/2'  2-3 wt all built out of "g" glass from the now gone Reeds tackle in Jersey.  I still like the old  buggy whips.   All are fitted with a matching Medalist reel or reels.   The only things that have been replaced  are the tip top on the 9 and the lines.  And guess what......They still catch fish...  I guess I am to old and to stubborn to change.. I have a bunch of fly rods. Many are glass. There's an old Phillipson I salvaged and my Fenwick Ferrulite. I'm partial to IM-6 rods as well. I have a boron and a TFO Axiom, but, my Pfleuger President 5wt sees more water than all the others combined. It's been with me for more than 20 years. We're old friends.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I just wrapped a 2/3 weight panfish flyrod for a neighbor....havn'tdone a full rod in many years.... What household or hardware store stuff can I use to seal the threads without having to order  online?
Not worried about color fading, just want to seal them....any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
I'm fishing my way through life .

I think I read somewhere that water based polyurethane will work. Try a sample ( obviously). I never use the preserver. I like the look of saturated thread.

I usually just use clear fingernail polish......seems to work quite well
take a kid hunting and fishing, it's a lot better than leaving them on the streets!!

Nail polish won't act as a color preserver though. It'll soak in.

You going for the TFO?

I'm taking the 2wt to a spot on the stream this morning. Should be a pretty good hatch coming off around 8:00 or so. Those gills will be slurping the surface. Time to play with the dries ;D promised myself I'd take the GoPro today. I'll see how that works out.

Yes the TFO
I do have one Sage that was my dad's but never used that one it's in my gun safe. Haven't dealt with J Stockard before but not concerned about that. Probably won't be able to use it until fall any way. Going to spend some more of the kid's inheritence money !!!!!

Thanks

Your Dad didn't intend for that Rod to sit in the safe.....use it!

J Stockard is a quality company. You won't have any problems with them.
