Yeah, I saw that one. Big fish! Talk about salt in the wound :pinch:

I've got a bunch of wing sheet material Trapper. Looks good, but I think the buck tail floats better and casts better. A little more wind resistance, but it keeps its shape very well.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

The collection grew today...

Nice one to stumble upon.  condition is excellent.  Worth 100.00-150.00 in some circles

They sure used enough thread on those old rods. That grip will clean up nicely with some isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush.  Put a light coat of spar varnish on the rod with a soft cloth and it'll look like brand new ;D

Nice find!

Carp on the fly ;D

Took a little beady eye and headed for the next town. About 30"....maybe 15 lbs. Fun stuff in the stream with my 6'6" 7 wt. I must have thrown 200 casts to get this one to hit.

Went 4 for 6 this morning. They liked the corn fly. The 2 I broke off were unstoppable . Two others I had to chase a pretty long ways. They're hot right now.

That is awesome.  May I ask if this is the canal again?  Or a stream?

...and is that a strike indicator in the one pic?

Stream, no strike indicator. One of my corn flies.

Yes I cheat sometimes. Do a little chumming and then toss a corn fly. They're definitely on vegetation right now. Went 2 for 2 yesterday. I've been using an old Lamiglas 7 wt I built by hand back in the early 80's. I remember running thread through a phone book with the spool rolling around on my bench. I had a cardboard box for a rod rack and a timer so I knew when to turn the rod so the finish wouldn't sag.

Things sure have changed on my bench ;D
