My garlic is huge this year. The seed I planted this spring is already 10-12 “ tall. It’ll be interesting to see what they produce.
Planted all my Bride’s flowers today. She’s happy…..I’m happy!

This novice managed to find the time to plant a raised bed with tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce. Another half a bed with zucchini seeds.
Trying something new this year which may be old hat to the rest of you. Put down a layer of wet newspaper followed by wet straw to keep weeds in check. Anybody else do this?

Newspaper yes, works great, as does cardboard in walkways. Stopped using straw years ago as it grew more weeds from seed in it than it suppressed. The newsprint under it, I feel, will help greatly.

Take it a little easy there Ben. Don’t be tearing up the good work the Dr’s did for you. Stuff will grow even if you wait a couple weeks.
You can fish with one arm…..I know that for a fact.

My garlic is showing scapes already.
Had to rebuild the bee hotel a while back. Gave it a paint job and restocked it. Gotta have my pollinators. There was one checking it out as I was putting the screen back on it. Still have to fill in the top section. Thinking about other materials.

I've been looking into making a pollinator house. Do you remove the cocoons every fall Bob, or just let nature do it's thing.
Take it easy with that shoulder Ben, I know from experience.
