One interesting thing about coyotes is that they can adapt to higher mortality rates by having larger litters.

A buddy of mine who works for a town dot in the southern tier told me they were excavating around a collapsed culvert pipe a couple years ago and dug up a coyote den that had around 60 fawn skulls in it.
Nice job findin em

I had 2 coyotes come into my turkey decoy this year. One was about 15 yds away, while the turkey was gobbling up the hill. I tried to spook him away. All he did was circle around and walk between me and the decoy at about 7 yds. Needless to say the turkey never came in.

I had a similar situation about 20 years ago. I had a decoy set up and a Tom and hen responding. I had a coyote sneak in behind me. I waved my arms and it ran back. Then the hen started to approach and he snuck back out in front of me. He stood there still, waiting for that bird, and she walked right to him. She got to about 10' away from the coyote and I got up and spooked them both before he had a chance to kill her.
