I as gifted some moose burger and steaks a while back  , steaks were delicious, and so tender , fully dressed burgers were out standing
Its more like beef than venison

Made my nearly famous Lemon Meringue Pie today.
I'm patiently waiting for it to set in the fridge.

Funny, Mrs. Dots is making pie as we speak, while I sip on a wonderful Cider Caramel cocktail!

I tried my hand at applesauce today for the first time, came out really good. 
I used 4 types of apples, and wound up with 4 textures, thats fine with me. Macs, Galas,  Jona Gold, and Honeycrisp.
Jared up 4 pints. Picked em at Appledale in Mexico, man what a gem that place is.

That looks really good.... how hard is it to make? It looks as if it takes some skill to get one like that.

Not really. The filling can be easy or less easy. I prefer home made filling. The recipe isn't all that difficult to accomplish. You can substitute a prepared lemon filling and it comes out just fine. Graham cracker crust is easy as ground up graham crackers, butter and sugar. It can be baked or not. I prefer lightly browned.

The meringue is also easy with a nice kitchenade stand mixer. Simple ingredients, egg whites ( the yolks go into the lemon filling in my recipe)  sugar, vanilla and cream of tartar. My advice is do not substitute or skip the cream of tartar. It does it's work adding acid to bind the egg whites into a firm meringue.

There's a ton of recipes online. I use one from a very old Betty Crocker cook book. They weren't afraid of butter, sugar or eggs when it was produced.

I make one of these a couple times a year. All things in moderation.

Took weekend off from work and fishing
Hung out at home checked out treestands,shot bow some
And today smoked pile of walleye
Smoked some venison Summer sausage and made venison sweet potato stew ,nice relaxing weekend
Oh,.  And Raiders won !!!!! 👍👍

I used to help out on my friend's farm making syrup in the spring and cider in the fall. We seldom pressed cider without a bottle of Grey Goose on the side. Vodka and fresh pressed apple/pear  cider.....mmmmmmm! Good!
