Heck our lakes don't even freeze any more.
I have seen herons since I was a kid in elementary school and a few eagles as well
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
Although I don't like what the cormorants have done to Ibay, they are protected and would like to see less of them if the DEC so decides to do that. To chime in on the whitetail thing, in 1900 there were 0 deer in New York. Yup, 0. In the '20"s the first re-sighting of the current population was in Naples, NY. People have a real hard time rapping their heads around the fact that NY and a very large portion of The surrounding NE was clear cut. Again, yup, no mature forests. Very few swaths survived and indigenous species along with that. Don't even get me going on cougars in NY. Sucks what we used to do to nature and the price it payed. I did have a rare sighting of an indigenous species years ago......................Mac ice fishing in NY.
