Today was a Free Fishing Day in CT, so I drove down to take advantage of it,
Absolutely gorgeous day - - sunny, blue skies, temps 75 to 80 - - and the flow conditions seemed (to me at least) just about ideal.
I arrived a little after 11 AM, and fished the Unionvile/Burlington stretch, and then headed back upstream and tried the Satan's Kingdom section in New Hartford on my way home, before finally heading home around 4 PM.
There were lots of fishermen on the river while i was there.
Over the course of the day, I ended up netting six (11"-13") brookies and three (13"/15"/17") rainbows.
This was the most productive outing I've ever had on the Farmington - - at least in terms of trout - - although, somewhat oddly, I didn't encounter any small mouth bass.
However, at one point I did see a pair of bald eagles flying abreast (a first for me) on their way downstream.
