I just upgraded from a 1987 model Lowrance to a Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2 Touch w/HDI transducer. I've been watching youtube videos and find some are very good and some are not so good. There seems to be a lot of choices to be made in setting this unit up but it doesn't seem to be too intimidating. I can't see myself paying $40 to get a DVD from Lowrance to teach me how to use this type of unit. What I'm seeking advice on is the Lowrance Insight Genesis program, if you buy a Lake Insight Map chip you get a years free subscription. Is it as good as it seems? Is it worth the money to renew after a year? Can anyone using it give me some feedback please?
