after finishing eating the rest of my previous haul i knew i needed to get more. took the boat out yesterday and kept another dozen and let around 2 dozen go. they averaged a little bigger this time with a decent around around 9-10in and i got a couple of 12in specimens. by far crappie is one of the best fish i have ever eaten and i will rival it with saltwater fish like cod, seabass, fluke, and tautog.

You got that right! White perch is also on that list for me.

do they taste anything like yellows? i know a lot of people like yellow perch but i particularly dont think they taste all that great like they are made out to be.
-
not at all in my opinion. they are white and a steaky meat vs sweet soft and yellowish.

looks like i may be targeting some whites at wachusett next week.

White perch are actually in the temperate bass family, closely related to striped bass and white bass. The taste is said to be similar to crappie.

correct. in my opinion thw white perch meat is slightly whiter and definitely firmer.
