Title: Rico??
Post by: crappie66 on Aug 22, 2005, 12:13 PM
Just wanted to let you know I came across something that lets me know there are some sane sports fans down south, I guess it kind of gives Tennessee hope.

Good looking dog, but please please please don't tell me you named him after the highly overrated Dolt's quarterback.

Rico, I saw an article stating why your Colt's will never win a Superbowl.  It said because the best linebacker in Indianapolis is Ron Artest who plays for the Pacers.

Anyways, have you been to the Honey Hole lately?  I have only fished twice since we were there, it's been to d**n hot for me to fish.  Bring on the ice, 3.5 to 4 months, can't wait.
Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: rico on Aug 30, 2005, 02:57 PM
yea crappie i have been hitting the honey hole about every two weeks really slowed down a month ago...had to fish for 4-5 hours just to catch twenty.  i think the lake has "turned over"  vegetation floating everywhere...it is time to put the minnows on the hook, but i probably wont get there for a couple of weeks now...

hell yes the dog is named after the greatest QB playing the game, who happened to play for my favorite college team...what did you want me to call him?  "McNabb"?  LMAO

Oh well maybe Peyton is destined to be another Dan Marino, but i love him...

Bring on the ice and you bring the beer!!!!!!!! :P

Looks like you might want to pack up the Kentucky items and send them off to the Goodwill.  Kentucky is getting worked by Louisville, not a good way to start of the season with a loss.

What a good day in college football.  Purdue wins yet again.

Kentucky gets beat by the Hoosiers, yes that is the Hoosiers, wow.
Tennessee gets beat, very nice.

Rico you drinking beer from those TN glasses, trying to drown the sorrows of a loss.

dont let him get to you jimmy!  he bleeds black and gold!  we shall see how the rest of the season shakes out.  hey crappie not a very impressive opener by the boiler nation.  jimmy is right, arizona aint very good, but a win is a win.  take them any way you can get 'em.  the big ten title is there for the taking...will the boilers step up or do what they did last year?
Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: crappie66 on Sep 19, 2005, 12:11 PM
Actually the Boilers did not just squeak by Arizona.  The Boilers never trailed and were in complete control pretty much the whole game.  The game wasn't on TV anywhere, so I had to listen to the whole thing on AM radio.  Purdue was up by 2 touchdowns pretty much the whole game.  The running game is looking good, still want to see if Kirsh is going to be a good passer, I haven't been to impressed thus far with the passing game, hopefully it will come together.

Tennessee did play a good game though, tough matchup.

On the other hand, there truely isn't anything I can say to describe KY football.

1961 Men's Golf
1932 Men's Basketball

I am sure there are more, just don't feel like digging through the archives.

The only real sport that counts anyways is football.  Tennesee had to start somewhere to get their NC's it just takes time, the Boilers turn is coming.

Tennessee only has 2 NC's in football, one a long time ago, and most recent 1998, which I sort of like, simply because of the fact it was immediately after the highly over hyped Peyton Manning left the program.

It is much harder for a Big Ten team to win a NC, much more competition, every year there is at least 3 or 4 very good teams, and of course one of them will lose, so there goes the shot at a NC.   SEC is the 2nd best conference I will give you that, but each year there is really only 2 or 3 teams that are any good.  Now the Pac 10, and Big 12 (Big 2), they are so weak with one and possibly two teams that are good, so of course they will sweep all their games and be undefeated to make it to the big game.

Anyways, been to the honey hole?  Not much fishing for me lately, hell my gf moved to North Carolina in April, I have more personal time now so I don't know why I haven't been out hardly at all.  Maybe I went fishing all the time to get away from her.   Once we get that ice mid December I will be back out 5 or 6 times a week.

Since when is football the only sport that counts, evidentally you've never been to a division1 wrestling match,or a Kentucky basketball game, when you say Purdue,I take it you are referring to the football team(lol)Kentucky won more national championships in basketball in  the 90's,than Purdue has won in all sports, you've bit off more than you can chew Crappie66..................maybe you better go to North Carolina and visit you're girlfriend and go back on you're archives, and see just how many national championships they have(lol)You know im gonna give you a hard time, you picking on my "WILDCATS",THATS A NO-NO................        (https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv369%2Fslimjim7461%2Flol.jpg&hash=15683be1f6133c3b1e818d77cd225854)

Actually when I was at Purdue I went to a couple of the wrestling matches.  A good friend from high school was on the team, Jon Fitch, he is now doing the Ultimate Fighting Championship thing full time training out of California.  It is a sport, but it isn't a sport you can really debate about and be a big die hard fan of, at least in my opinion.  It is that one wrestler on the mat winning ulitimately for himself, I know there are team points, but they truely want to win the match for themselves first.

I gave up on college basketball around 1997 when all of Purdue's good players left and Gene Keady decided he didn't want to recruit athletes any longer for the basketball team.  And of course Kentucky won a few NC's in basketball, but you know as well as I do that their basketball program is/was far from clean.  Not hard to get the best players when you offer them cash, clothes, new cars, jewelry, etc......   the list goes on and on.

GO PURDUE

no have not been to the hole in a while.  slow biting the last time i was up there.  had to fish 4-5 hours to get a mess.

1932 basketball championship...c'mon now

1960? golf championship....c'mon now

sec the second best conference in football?...c'mon now

nit bb tournament doesnt count for squat!

check your archives closely my friend.

the only reason kentucky isnt any good at football is because they play
tennessee, georgia, florida, alabama, auburn, lsu....did i leave out ole miss, miss st, south carolina, arkansas...give me a break my man the sec is a "football" conference...they only got one patsy...vanderbilt...and they aint too d**n bad...who would you rather play...auburn or minnesota?  c'mon, go to the archives and check this out...how many nc's have come out of the sec as compared to the big ten....wanna make a bet on it?  football rules in the south and kentucky takes up the slack come basketball season.

take care and why arent you checking out indianasportsman?

1932 bb nc ha ha...................

Post by: crappie66 on Sep 22, 2005, 03:41 AM
Well I took your advice and went back to my archives to further check information.  What I found was the number of recognized National Championships from each team in the Big 10 and SEC.  (nationalchamps.net)

(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv112%2Fcrappie66%2Fbig10-04-top-03.gif&hash=bb261a5c529ea48f4ef907cb0fd86aae)

Illinois  4
Indiana 0
Iowa 1
Michigan 10
Michigan State  2
Minnesota  6
Northwestern  0
Ohio State 5
Penn State 4
Purdue 0 >:(
Wisconsin 0

SEC

Florida 1
Georgia 1
Kentucky 0
South Carolina 0
Tennesee 2 (one immediately following peyton mannings departure  ;D)
Vanderbilt 0
Alabama 11
Arkansas 0
Auburn 1
LSU 3
Mississippi 0
Mississippi State 0

So with that, Big Ten has 32 total National Championships, and the SEC has 19.
Let it be known to that SEC has more teams than the Big Ten.

So explain to me again why the SEC is better, and has a much better football history.  Of course the schools you listed have good programs, but many of them are just like Purdue, waiting to get their first.  And the schools you listed it is very rarely that more than 2 of those are good in any given year, I will say the same for the Big Ten though there are usually only a couple great teams each year.

I do respect the SEC, that is why I say they are the 2nd best conference.  You know as well as I do, put any team from the Big 10 or SEC in the Big 12 or PAC 10, they will win outright all their games and contend every year for the National Championship.

Hail, Hail to Old Purdue! All hail to our old gold and black! Hail, Hail to Old Purdue!

Anyways, when are we going fishing again?  I can pick up a Purdue P magent for your truck if you would like, when I am down at Purdue next weekend.  Let me know, I already have 2 of the P's, now getting the Purdue helmet magnet.

arkansas and south carolina are newcomers.

penn state is also(i dont think they have won any representing the big 10)

michigan state didnt join the conference until the 50's(u of chicago was an original member)

michigan and ohio state have only won one apiece in the last 30+ years.

dont doubt your data(i will do my own) but in the last 20 or so years the sec is the better football conference, just as the acc has been in basketball in the same time frame.

lets not forget michigan, ohio st, and iowa all losing the same day to non conference opponents.

i tell you crappie 66 you would fit right in with me and my buddies drinking beer and talking sports.

dont know when i am going to get up there again.  but i would like to go a couple of more times before the snow starts flying.

i will have you know that i do have purdue "p" 's already on my truck.  go boilers!

So your Tennessee Vols lose a game, and you rush out to get the Purdue P's.
Come on Rico, I would have never taken you as a bandwagon fan, but hey we are happy to have you as a fan now.  Purdue just might have to have another renovation to the stadium once we shock the nation,  I am sure there will be more fans to come, we are going to need a bigger stadium.

Post by: rico on Sep 23, 2005, 11:54 AM
My final data is in on the Big Ten vs. Sec.  Jimmy pay close attention to this because you are gonna get a kick out of it.  Crappie 66, keep in mind up until recently college football was a "mythical" championship.  Polls determined the champ...the A.P. poll came into existance in 1936 and the UPI(coaches) didnt come in until 1950.  So up until that time a lot of championships were shared, sometimes by as many as 5 teams.  Even after the two media polls were created the "old" polls stayed in existence right through the 70's.  That being said, The Big Ten was founded in 1897 and the S.E.C was around until 1933.  So all championships by either member school before 1933 I have thrown out.  Michigan had 6, Illinois 3, Alabama 3 etc.  Also Penn State didnt join the Big Ten until the early 90's so they forfeit 4 titles.  Michigan State didnt join the conference until 1949 they forfeit none.  The same goes with Arkansas and South Carolina.  They did not join the SEC until the early 90's.  Niether one has one a title since being in the conference.  However Arkansas forfeits 2 titles pre-SEC and the Gamecocks have never won one.  The tally is:

         Big Ten                                                    SEC

Ohio St.---13                                               LSU---5
Michigan---7                                                Tennessee---7
Penn St---1                                                  Florida---2
Michigan St.---5                                            Auburn---3
Iowa---2                                                       Alabama---13
Minnesota---6                                               Georgia---4
Illinois---1                                                     Mississippi---3
Wisconsin---1                                                Kentucky---1

    Big Ten 36                                                   SEC  38

By the way Crappie, the Sec has kicked their butts over the last 30 years.  In its existence the SEC has more football titles than any other conference.  Hey Jimmy did you notice that Kentucky is on the list?  1950 my man!  Where was Purdue?  Well it would seem that they did win in 1931.  It must have been the same guys that got them their basketball title in 1932!!!  But that was before the SEC.

Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: crappie66 on Sep 23, 2005, 08:05 PM
Rico, when doing my research I did notice many additional National Championships for each team.  However, I chose to only list those by the AP.  There are several other championships out there, had I listed those the Big Ten's tally would have easily been closer to 80 plus, and SEC around 40.

I also realize teams join the conferences at different times, however, when people debate about teams in each conference they talk about the long standing history of those add on teams.  That is why I included those national championships, since they are currently teams in that particular conference.

As I type this I am wondering to myself, why?, because I always say who cares about the past, those championships or history has nothing to do with today's teams.   It is evident that the Big Ten is strong, and the SEC is strong, but the edge must go to the Big Ten.  I respect SEC programs, because they like the Big Ten play good games, now if you were a Big 12 or PAC 10 fan I would have no respect what so ever for the program.

Rico, be sure to watch the Purdue game tomorrow.  ESPN  11:00 AM, the boilers are on track to shock the nation, just wait, this might be the year we get national recognition.

Rico, on another note.

Purdue has played Tennessee one time in football.

Results:

Purdue 27
Tennessee 22

Bluebonnet Bowl  12/31/1979

Well head to head matchup I think Purdue takes that one.

Well I guess I will have to break out this picture agian.  It is only fitting.

crappie i beg to differ...the ap did not come out until 1936, you listed quite a few that werent "ap' champs.

the ap poll is also tainted.  i cant put a date on it but if you check closely the team that won their championship lost their bowl game.  that was actually the case for tennessee in 1951.  alabama and notre dame tied for the title in 1973.  but the irish actually beat them in the rose bowl.  the ap did not come out with another poll after the bowl games.

this why we have the bcs now.  it is "supposed" to determine one true national championship.

i will agree to disagree with you none the less.

hey jimmy we cant start analizing college basketball at anytime.  on that one i would have to say the big ten is the tougher of the two.  and i cant stand kentucky, they are just too d**n good.......

Yeah, I know it is all in good fun, but sometimes the truth does hurt.  Big Ten best conference, sometimes you just have to accept the facts.

I became an Eagles fan back in junior high school, when Randall Cuningham was QB and they had Reggie White, I guess it has just stuck since I still have all the jackets and hats from back then.  To be honest with you though, I really don't care much for the NFL, a bunch of overpaid cry babies, especially Peyton Manning.

As for Purdue getting beat by Minnesota, I accept that,  they obviously wanted it more than we did, and we could not stop their running attack.  Minnesota is a much better team than they are given credit for, and they have a very very good running back.   I would much rather get beat by Minnesota than IU, who beat the Kentucky Wildcats.  You may win when it comes to basketball, but you will never win when it comes to football.  The only thing I think of when I hear Kentucky football is the big fat QB they had, Lorenzen.

I would rather lose early in the season than late, so now we can redeem ourselves and climb back up the polls.  Notre Dame is next, it will be a good game, probably turn out like last years 41-16 whooping.  The Boilers are going to be mad and hungry.

Well Rico I caught the game last night.  Tennessee was flat the first half, but they sure fought hard in the second half.  I will give you this, unlike Purdue, Tennessee was able to capitalize in overtime.

AP NEWS....   Hurricane coverage, Baton Rouge stadium flooded, source of flooding, tears from saddened LSU fans.

Rico, do you ever go down to any of the Purdue games?  I am taking a 4 day weekend this weekend to go see my Boilers put a hurting on ND.  Probably take another 4 day weekend to go see my Boilers take care of Iowa as well.  Back to college, see if I can still handle it, I do know my tolerance isn't anything like it used to be.

On October 15 th.  I declare I will be a ND fan for one day, ND must beat USC.  I am tired of hearing about USC and the d**n Pac 10.

bruce, i have been to purdue a time or too.  i would rather watch on the telly...my beerrator is closer.  and you know how i am ;D

We had a kegerator in our college apartment, every Saturday night upon returning from the bar all three roommates would circle a two block radius, gathering as many empty kegs as we could find from parties earlier in the night.  Some nights only 3 or 4, other nights 10 to 15.  Load them in roommates truck and return them for deposit, and what do you know more than enough for another keg.  The kegerator was great for pre partying before going to parties or the bar, but before you know it to many people began to take advantage of it, sometimes needing a new keg every other night, just from social drinking, no party or anything.  It got costly at one point, hell I think I am still paying for some of that beer I upset away years ago.

About the game, you don't need a beerrator to enjoy and take in a Purdue game, that is what bota bags are for.  Fill that thing with about a fifth of whiskey, the cheaper the better.  Buy a couple cokes at the game, whiskey and coke within seconds.   Usually pass them around amongest us, make them nice and strong, strong enough to make the hair on the back of your neck rise and to make your nipples hard.  After halftime they don't pat you down like they do before the game, so then you can line your waist with about a 6 pack of beer.

Good times, good times.  It will be interesting though, I know my tolerance isn't half of what it used to be, hell I am lucky to drink once a month now, used to drink to get drunk 6 nights a week in college.

Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: crappie66 on Oct 02, 2005, 10:42 PM
Ok, Ok.  Purdue did get their butt kicked pretty good.  That first fumble killed them and they lost all momentum.  They had no offense after that in the first half.  The second half, ND couldn't stop Purdue's offense, but we couldn't tackle them on their little 5 yard slants, they were covered, but for some reason the boilers secondary wasn't wrapping.

Not sure what Tiller is doing with the offense, the fans aren't likeing it either.  They didn't throw but 3 or 4 passes all first half, and Kirsh is a horrible qb, he is the next brandon hance.  Second half when Purdue went back to their passing game, which is what they are known for they were driving with ease.

Oh well, game over, seasons shot, hopefully we can get a good qb again soon.

If USC wins next week I will cheer for ND on Oct. 15.

I can take the bashing from ND fans and Tennessee fans, but when a KY fan bashes Purdue football it only makes me laugh.

Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: crappie66 on Oct 05, 2005, 04:21 AM
Well I am still here, I got back from Lafayette yesterday actually.  I will say it again, the Boilers did get beat pretty bad by the Irish, I can pin point what they did wrong, but its a little to late for that now.  Hopefully somebody lights a fire under their asses and they can learn how to wrap up when they tackle.

As for choking twice, how do you figure?   Purdue choked once, to Minnesota, if you even want to call that a choke considering the line was in favor of Minnesota, but ranking wise yes Purdue choked.    Getting beat by Notre Dame wasn't a choke, considering ND was ranked what 12 or 13, and Purdue was around 20.

I will be back in West Lafayette again this weekend, taking another 4 day weekend to take in another Boiler game, against Iowa.  I already have tickets for this one, so thank god I don't have to drop another $100 on a ticket.  Not sure where the tickets are located yet, but hopefully somewhere that I can sit down and watch the game.  I am getting to old for the student section, standing up the entire game, that was rough, tailgating all morning and afternoon in the hot sun, drinking too much, then standing up drinking more Beam and Coke, I was wore out by the end of the game.

I think ND has a very good chance of beating U$C, we all saw this past weekend that U$C can be scored on, if the Irish D can hold their own, it should be a great game.  Might be something similar to the 93 FSU ND game.  As for the ND Tennessee game, I would pick Tennessee to win, but I will be damned if I have to go fishing with Rico and hear how Tenn beat ND and Purdue didn't, that there is enough for me to cheer for ND on that game.

Jimmy, when your Wildcats have a winning season or make it to a bowl game I will then pay attention to your criticism of my Boilermakers.  I doubt that will happen anytime soon, maybe some of your basketball boosters can pitch in some money to buy some blue chip football players.
Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: slimjim7461 on Oct 05, 2005, 06:15 AM
First off if you are paying $100.00 to watch the Boilermakers play, you need to think about buying a couple new ice fishing rods, and staying on the east side of the state, here real soon they wont be able to give tickets AWAY,and as far as my "WILDCATS" go,I'm referring to the basketball program Bruce,it just breaks my heart that Purdue is in a slump......... :D :D :D

My friend who wrestles for Purdue, told me to tell you to keep buying them football tickets, because the Athletic program is in the process of building them a new wrestling facility,in which will open next week, but he also said,he'de never give 25 cents for a football ticket(lol)

Whether ya like it or not Bruce,Im not much of a Purdue fan,I go to 7-10 wrestling matches a year, and thats only because I personally know the two badest kids on the team,if ya get a chance,go to the wresting forum for Purdue, and look up Douglas Withstandely(149lber) from Jackson,New Jersey, and Ben Wissel(184lber) from Richmond,Indiana, these are 2 great kids, who work hard to be all americans, these 2 young men are both red-shirt seniors, and cant wait to get out of West Lafayette,Rico you're gonna have to invite me to the honey hole, when Crappie66 goes,so we can turn em into a S.E.C. fan,I know why these 2 kids went to Purdue, they offered the best scholarship for em,anyway Bruce, have a good time this weekend in West Lafayette this weekend and be safe,

Title: Re: Rico??
Post by: crappie66 on Oct 09, 2005, 09:07 PM
Alright I am going to concede.  The Boilermakers suck this year, I don't know what has happened.  Well actually I know what has happened, we don't have a good quarterback who can lead a team, he reminds me of Brandon Hance from a few years ago.  Kirsh has got to be one of the worst qb's in the nation, he obviously has no confidence in his arm, because he never throws deep, even when players are open, and he knows before he snaps the ball where he is going to throw the ball even before reading coverages and seeing who else is open, case in point his interception in the endzone this past Saturday, Charles Davis was triple covered and he still tried to lob it in there, that throw there is enough to take away his scholarship, he is absolutely horrible.  What I don't get is why Tiller is keeping him in, the season is shot, so how about putting in a backup to get him ready for next season.

The other key problem is that the defense can't cover the pass, against ND they were able to cover but couldn't stop the play when the ball was caught by doing a basic fundamental tackle, I know it is easy to sit on the side and say this, but they are Big Ten football players they have got to know how to tackle.   This past week, I can't even count how many times Purdue held Iowa to third and long, and before you know it a receiver is wide open across the middle with not a man on him.  I would also like to see Tiller change up the lineup and get some younger guys in there, get them ready for next year.  The only positive thing I have seen is their ability to stop the run up the middle, and Bernard Pollard, he is an excellent player, I don't think I have seem him blow a play yet, he will be a Sunday afternoon player that's for sure.  On the defense, I truely do not now what the big problem is, they returned all defensive starters from last year, which did well.

So there it is I admit Purdue is horrible this year, but I will still bleed black and gold, and support them whether they win or lose, just please get me a new QB.  I am going to attempt to make it back down to West Lafayette for one more game this season, more than likely the Michigan State game, Nov. 5.

By the way, this coming Saturday, GO IRISH.  For this one game I want ND to put it on U$C.

Well there is good news coming out of West Lafayette, Coach Tiller said at this time he doesn't know who will be starting at quarterback.  I am surprised it took him this long to realize Kirsh sucks and has no place in college football, the brandon hance clone should have been benched in the 3rd game.  The season is shot, so I hope we get a new quarterback playing, even if we don't win at least he will be getting some experience for next season.

Well I would say yes it is the quarterbacks fault.  If he can't lead the team and give them confidence then the team will suffer.  Kirsh has proven he can't throw a ball deep, he can't throw a sideline pass, he is to impatient in the pocket, is to late optioning the ball when they run the option, never looks for open receivers, he knows where he is throwing before the ball is even snapped, but he has proven he knows how to throw interceptions.

Purdue currently has one of the best groups of receivers in many years, better than when Bree's was here, we have the fastest man in college footall who is always open deep, but without a quarterback who can get the ball to them they can't produce big plays.

We didn't lose that many starters from last year, the key starter was Kyle Orton the quarterback, so compare last year with this year and you will see a quarterback does influence the whole team.  Injuries have hurt the defense as well, players moving positions.

Slimjim, do you even watch college football?   Some of your comments don't make any sense about football, or are you just blowing time waiting for your basketball to start.  It is funny you make fun of Purdue so much, but yet your Wildcats have just as many losses, go figure.

I heard back before the season started that the Purdue coaching staff was really high on some freshman qb.  Are they red shirting him?  I am with you on that qb influencing the team...the vols have rick clausen and he is just as bad as his older brother casey...i thought reggie bush was the fastest man in college football?

hey jimmy you had better lighten up on crappie.  what happens if the wildcats have a bad season(fingers crossed ;D)?  i guess we will have to haggle about b-ball on the ice shanty board!  a lot of the pre-season publications have the 'cats struggling this year.  just watch out for those hoosiers!

Well Crappie66,as a matter of fact I do watch College Football, all I wanna know, is how was Purdue ranked as high as they were coming into this season. Are you like the Boilermakers when you get on the ice?Do you choke when it comes times to put fish in the bucket?Ive noticed these last 2 years you're were suppose to be at the outing and for some reason didnt show up?Did the thought of the Swedish_Pimple puttin it on ya,keep you at home?If I had the money to go watch Purdue get smoked,Ide have the money to show up at the outing where you consistently bragged on you're Boiler's,hope you make this years outing, you should be easy to beat,no matter what water we're on,I'm sure you'll still be tore up over the bad season they had,it gets better as times go by Crappie66,oh yea,you interested in buying a 2005 Skeeter Bass Boat(lol)$23,000,I forgot, why would a man invest all that big money in equipment, when he fishes in little Tournaments, which have little pay back,if you would stay away from West Lafayette's football field, you could probably have a boat yourself(lmmfao)And I better not hear of you killing Stripers down at Brookville either (lol).............................Have a wonderful Day

                                                                       Jimmy Lang

Jimmy, I was at the first outing held at Tri County.  I remember meeting you when you came into that bait shop, wearing a blue KY Wildcats sweatshirt, asking for directions to Tri County.  I was with "Riverscum" at the time.  On that day with the poor fishing most everybody experienced, I managed to catch 3 crappie to put into the bucket, so i don't always choke.  As for the boat, when I am ready to get one I will be looking for something more crappie friendly, looking for comfort as well.   I have never been to Brookville, so you don't have to worry about me kililng the stripers, but I would be willing to remove all legal bass caught.  I hope you do realize my comments on that board, fishin.com, are strictly to get those tourny guys all worked up since they seem to belittle everybody who doesn't fish for bass or have the exact opinion they do.  Maybe someday next year I will have to try out your guiding service, and I hope to make it down to Summit sometime this winter if you don't mind a Boilermaker tagging along.

I don't know if I will be able to chime in on the basketball debates, I haven't really followed basketball since Gene Keady decided to stop recruiting athletes, and only recruited tall skinny white boys who lack coordination.  From what I have heard though, the new coach, former Boilermaker Matt Painter, has produced a great recruiting class, but I am sure it will take a couple years to get things going.

Rico, Purdue has three freshman quarterbacks, who are all supposed to be pretty good.  I am not sure which one you are referring to though, but if we haven't seen them yet I would say it is safe to say you are right about red shirting them.  They have played Curtis Painter, a sophomore, for a few drives, he actually played the third quarter last week.  He has a much better arm, and is able to air the ball out more so than Kirsh, however he doesn't have the repetions with the receivers to totally feel comfortable.  I am sure after this past week with competion for qb role he has gotten more practice time with the receivers.

Last I heard Reggie Bush runs a 4.20    40 yd dash, Dorian Bryant has a 4.18  40 yd dash time.  Either way both are fast, Reggie has a good qb on his team so his speed is utilized,   Dorian has had a crappy qb on his side thus far so he hasn't been able to truely showcase his skills.

just everybody take a deep breath...now didnt that feel good?

by the way crappie, where did you get those 40 times?......purdue.com?  the last time i checked the best reciever in the big 10 was some basketball  player from fort wayne who goes by the name of james hardy and the best football player was a guy named reggie bush.  one plays at IU and the other at USC and i dont care what your stop watch says, your boy wont amount to a hill of beans ;D

gladly trade you clausen for kirsh...the only thing is that, that wont help your defense!!!!!   i am riding the crimson wave now that the big orange went into the toilet!!!!!

hey jimmy...any word on randolph...the center for uk?  the last i heard he was not going to play...ouch!!!!!!

Rico, I am still here, not hiding.   But I am looking forward to next year, should be interesting.

We need to win out to be bowl eligible, not sure that will happen.  We can only be the spoiler now, we have gone from the boilermakers, to the PURDUE SPOILERMAKERS.

Still thinking about going to one more game, probably MSU, but I haven't decided yet.  Going to the games tends to get costly fast by the time you pay for gas, smokes, beer, food, and then whatever else my money goes towards that I can't figure out yet.  I dropped close to $800 on my last two trips, that money could have paid for my gas auger I want to get this winter.

Been fishing lately, been a few weeks for me, we fished oakdale dam when I went down to purdue for the ND game, caught some SM bass, and several of those d**n big head carp, all on rattle traps, the wipers we usually get there weren't anywhere to be found.

To your call once more we rally, Alma Mater, hear our praise; Where the Wabash spreads its valley, Filled with joy our voices raise. From the skies in swelling echoes Come the cheers that tell the tale Of your vic'tries and your heroes, Hail Purdue! We sing all hail!

Hail, Hail to Old Purdue! All hail to our old gold and black! Hail, Hail to Old Purdue! Our friendship may she never lack, Ever grateful, ever true, Thus we raise our song anew, Of the days we've spent with you All hail our own Purdue.

When in after years we're turning, Alma Mater, back to you, May our hearts with love be yearning, For the scenes of old Purdue.

Back among your pathways winding, Let us seek what lies before, Fondest hopes and aim e'er finding, While we sing of days of yore.
