Any idea why?

Our usual tactics with hardware weren't as productive as in the past so we have been using a lot more live bait, about half of the fish we've lost have been straightened hooks, we backed the drags down and started getting more hit and spits, we changed over to sewing with treble hooks and are starting to catch up.

I had a good one on a flatfish this past Saturday, got it near the boat and it went back down and ahead of the boat and there it was gone, first time I've seen a laker do that but that's the kind of year we're having.

We have had our best luck at night, been out a few times until early morning, really cool trolling in the dark.

That is interesting because 90% of the hits I have had this spring have resulted in conversions, very good spring.  The time when I see the "short bites" as around the full moon.  I was with FLAG one time (doesn't post on here any longer) and we were on a dead full moon and lots of drops.  He cranked the drags way down tight and we started getting fish to the boat, first time I had seen that but it worked.  Check for dull hooks also.

Was that you in the Stieger?

From a shorefishing perspective, action  through April was hot.  May was mixed, ranging from personal bests to barely fighting off the skunk.  Overall, browns are down locally for me.  Haven't fished much in Maine in June.  2 out of area trips......early in the month, did real well on browns.  Just got back from NY salt.  A few fish, but pretty slow.

Been a great month

Caught a 7 pound 2 ounce grandson (our first) 2 Friday's ago and gained a new daughter-in-'law this past Saturday.  Not sure what she weights. 8)
Whatever it is.... 99% of the time wedding day is the lightest your wife will ever be. LMAO!

Ok for the first year put a penny in a jar each time you get a piece . The morning after your first anniversary start taking Penny's out of that jar each time .  You will never get all those pennies out of the jar !

Congrats !
