for me it's 8"-9", males only, mostly because there are fewer females in my lake and i want there to be bigger fish later on.

how about you guys?

i only keep gills in the slot between 7 -10  big bulls of 12 to 13 go back in

first i will start by saying i only take gills from January to March (cold water months) but think i would have to agree my slot is about 7-10 inches. In may area anything from 9 and up is a large gill, the average fish is 6-8, with a ton under 6 as well

7 in but will keep anything that bleeds and take home and clean. man oh man Id love to catch a 12 to 13 inch gill Ive never seen one.

I usually only keep them through the ice but either way 8" is a good size for keeping
