Was thinking of trying for smallies. Never fished for them at wachusett before. Any baits or gate suggestions? Not sure if it's worth targeting smallies on my next trip or return to my consistent salmon action.

Good deal? How deep was the water you were getting them in? I want to try similar areas at Quabbin to see if its the same.

Ten years of logging and fishing the red top thing I've found it to be hit or miss when the decent fish show up.  Ive had enough with 20s...need 40's and up!   ;)

My buddies got into some 50lb fish early last year on live pogies in the West end. They caught 4 in the high 40s and 3 over 50 in a time span of around 3 weeks. The same area the 60lb fish was caught. We are getting bigger fish earlier it seems.
