nice day, not a bite in 3 hours. Didn't see anyone catch a thing. Bass Lake lot was full so was the 2 spots on Bruce. Luckily, I got last spot.

Has anyone been there this year and caught crappie? I know that this lake goes in cycles. You will catch them consistently for 3 to 4 years, then, you can't buy a bite? Next year, limits?????

Al,
Stepson has cottage on Lake Bruce. Some guy caught a 15" crappie a week ago along with
 some others.

Sweet, I have been fishing there over 15 years. I have noticed thru the years that there are years when you won't get the crappie??? Guess I need to give it another try before I pull the plug. Maybe go on Thursday.

As a muskie fisherman myself and living on muskie waters, I'd just like to point out the fact that maybe the numbers of fish in said body of water has gone down , but the quality increases over time. People don't understand that and want results to happen overnight.

Bruce is full of shad. That's why they stocked muskie. Shad lakes typically don't produce good panfish. They do put out an occasional huge crappie, but not good overall quality . At least from my experience.

That is odd: I have never seen a shad come from there. I am not doubting you. Just saying, I haven't put my camera in this body of water.

Beautiful day today. A bit cold this morning. Took 3 hours before we figured them out. Ended up with a mixed bag of crappie, gills and perch. Kept 38, nothing big but got a few meals for the freezer. The crappie have spawned out? all blacks no whites, and not 1 female. gills are on the beds.
