85 in the trough planter when I got home just now. 42 outside. Very encouraging.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Mine is 5 " tall already. But, it's warmer in the flatlands

Spent the day working on the vented cover for the trough planter.

Got the auto vent installed.

Cut all the Tuflex and gave the frame a coat of Olympic Maximum stain.

Tomorrow I'll assemble the whole cover and move it to the Trough.

The planter got very hot today.

The vent system is the answer.

Raq,    What's with the chicken wire? Something eating the bulbs?

I thought about that Dom. The vent opener has 2 really heavy springs and there's a clip I can remove if I wanted to disable the opener in the event of high winds.

Anyway, it's pretty much complete save some finishing touches.

Hinged at the back for access to plant.

Closures at the sides and back. Used a garage door seal for this.

Vent opener works as described. Pretty happy with the whole project. Next I'll be installing the Reflectix and rope lights . Right now I'm gonna have a beer or two and watch the Yankee game. Getting together with few of the neighbors for a cook out later.

Nice Sunday!

Got the Reflectix installed with the rope lights. Set all the peat pots and have the seeds germinating.

We'll watch it tonight and make sure it's warm enough to get things going. Sure will be a lot easier next year.

Pretty cool Bill.
Got down to 47 this morning. Soil temp was still at 64. I think I'm in business. Gonna direct sow some radishes later this morning and see what happens. My tomato and cuke/pickle seeds should sprout by the weekend. When they do I'll start them in the peat pots I buried. Yesterday the vent opened at around 65 degrees and was open a full 12" when I got home on the afternoon.

Nice to find something that works as advertised.

49 this morning, 68 in the seed bed👍
Stuck in a few rows of radishes just to experiment. Tilled the little plot at the south side of the house and transplanted the Greek oregano to the herb garden. Can't kill that stuff and it's pretty nice ground cover. It kind of took over one corner of the South plot so, it had to move. Also transplanted My Bride's Daisy to a home out of my raised beds.

Still lots to do and much to plant. Flower Boxes, potatoes, flower pots,  clematis....etc.....etc......etc.

At least I'm playing in he dirt ;D
