Odd part is, we were marking fish, they just weren't eating

Nothing worse than that....if it makes you feel better last trip we thought we found 4929299 lakers....sadly they were all massive yellow perch.

What's wrong with "massive yellow perch?"

Time and place my friend.  Not so much fun on leadcore and trolling rods.

Then it's time to throw over a marker buoy and vertical fish with a lighter rig!  ;D

Jesus....

MASSIVE perch!

It was a fun day last fall. Took 10 hours of chasing the schools around.  All on dropshot in 18 to 45fow.

Do you use a heavier weight when you are drop shotting that deep, or just use extra patience?

I always stay towards the heavier side, the tighter you can keep the line the better you can feel the hits.  That said I usually stick to heavier drop shot weights...unless the fish are suspended then Ill lighten up.  Even so I use 4lb test braid so the drop rate even with 16th oz jigs isnt that bad.  Also prefer tungsten drop shot weights.  The performance is much better than lead.
