Veevus thread Ben. Don’t try to break it with your fingers. You’ll leave a scar…..another scar…..behind.

It’s slippery so after you whip finish, give it a drop of super glue.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Ben, I’ve used Veevus power thread 140 denier for bucktails. Seems to hold up pretty good. Others may chime in with their preferences.

Veevus is good  stuff  but i have  so much thread i  often  grab what ever is  close ....tying bucktails    my way  doesn't  matter  much i  like  to put a  drop of  super glue  gel on the  hook then the buck tail  wrap  tight  hitch  then i  either  use uv  resin or  two piece  epoxy i won't say it won't  slip  apart  i will say it will take awhile

Fishing room purge!

Been tying some flies while my lovely Bride is recouperating. Sat down this morning and that was it! Too much clutter and accumulation. So, the purge is on. There was stuff in bins, boxes and drawers all over the place. Im about halfway there. Sorting, organizing and dumping. Its crazy what piles p after some years of this addiction.

Thinking about how to store my fly collection. Its pretty substantial.

Bob, I have plenty of room for fly storage here. 😁

After  considerable thought and a lot of sorting, i came up with this for my fly storage problem.

I decided on some clear bead storage boxes for the smaller flies.

r

Ill get 3 more of the clear boxes and make a rack for those too.

Things are back in order

It was a really good thing to go through all my tackle, sort, manage and discard stuff thats just been accumulating. Found some of my fly patterns that I had forgotten about. Ill revisit some of them.

And…..heres my tip of the day.

Dont pay the crazy price for loon or solarez uv resin!

Jewlers uv resin from amazon. 7 ounces ….thats right….7 OUNCES…..of cryatal clear medium resin……$12…..and it came with a nice little usb powered uv lamp.

Bob.
What are your thoughts about it for use on rod wraps?
Do you think it would be good over the long haul?

Never tried it. Id be concerned about flexibility and yellowing over time. But then…ive never tried it.

Works great for flies though.

Did a bit of searching. Nothing says you cant use it. I have a 5’ ultralight i built in ‘02 that needs a refurbishing. The epoxy blistered and dulled from sitting in the sun in my boat.

I believe ill give it a try.
