Been out once so far and no luck.

My buddy and i have a bunch of longbeards scouted out, hopefully a couple of them will want to play next monday.  It would be very nice to tag out the first week so we can get after the walleyes!!!

I work with a bunch of Turkish guys and they are always talking about Turkey ( I think they spell it Turkiye) getting admitted to the european union....so I thought this thread was about that...Turks getting admitted to the EU....I got a laugh out of it anyway.  I havn't hunted turkeys in quite a few years.  I would like to get out a little more for them, but I never seem to have the time.

Gotta get up too early in the morning for me to shoot one of those suckers :D  It's definitely a good time of year though to do a "cast n blast" combo.  Get your gobbler early in the morning and hit the water for walleyes, trout or panfish later on and then pass out after lunch from getting up at 3am to go turkey hunting :P

That sounds VERY familiar! ;) I'm more than ready!!

I'm not ready......will be by Mon.  I am really looking forward to it though.  Been seeing lots of big Toms by the big red barn where the dog always barks ;)  You know the spot, over near the trailer with the toys out front and the satellite dish ;)  Good luck to all.....except the turkeys!

My son and grandson were out Sunday. The 12 yr old got a 20# with a 9" beard. Took it to the taxidermist for a fan and chest mount. The kid is still flying high.

That's awesome, Jerry! Good for him...  :clapping:

I was at my spot in LSP this morning before dawn and heard some activity as things woke up. Not quite the spot I thought so I high-tailed it out of there.
At least now I know I have to make a minor change in my plan of attack.
I'm looking forward to it!

I'm ready! I think? First time turkey hunting ever. New shotgun, turkey choke, camo, decoy and call. Anything else! oh, I have a location also. I like FLB's idea. Tag out and hit the eyes! Thats the plan anyway?

Get ready to be abused! Those d**n birds mess with you in more ways than you can imagine. You're going to love it though!

Nothing like working a bird for two hours and something happens?  LIKE
Movement of a hunter
Hen running in
Other hunter coming to the call??????????
Coyote or fox runing to the call.
Wild dog strolling in the woods
ECT and everything you would not expect.

That is why it is the MOST difficult species to hunt, except maybe fox and yotes calling them in.

Wisht the bird hunting was a slam dunk, but its VERY humbling even for the best of hunters

i dont get out anymore like i used to. i prefer to hit em with my truck  ;)  and dont get me wrong.....i LOVE wild turkey, but its hard for me to invest the time during a prime fishing period  when i can go to price chopper, and pick one up for 59 cents a pound.....not to mention the work it saves

  but thats just me
